Soldeu comes alive in the winter months as a skiing town. The skiing is on the 193km  Grandvalira   ski area, the largest area in the Pyrenees.
Soldeu village is at 1800m & El Tarter is at 1710m and the top of the ski area is at 2580 metres. The gondola from the village rises to 2250 meters where the ski and board schools as well as restaurants are located.
 
In 2002 the resort was constituted by Soldeu-El Tarter. Now, the two areas are linked with Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa, Encamp and Canillo. Therefore, there are 6 areas in Andorra called: Grandvalira-Encamp, Grandvalira-Canillo, Grandvalira-El Tarter, Grandvalira-Soldeu, Grandvalira-Pas de la Casa and Grandvalira-Grau Roig.  Soldeu- El Tarter retains a good village atmosphere with several excellent watering holes for apres-ski and a good selection of restaurants (and as Andorra is a duty fee zone prices are very reasonable for a ski resort!). Accommodation is good, from the smart hotels near the gondola at the top of the village to more basic apartments down the road.The skiing itself is varied with some pleasant tree-lined runs down to the resort, and wide-open pistes higher up. There is an abundance of skiing for beginners and intermediates together with some reasonable challenges on and off-piste for experts. Indeed, due to the English-speaking ski school with it's many British Basi & Canadian CSIA trained instructors, Soldeu-El Tarter is an ideal place to learn to ski or snow-board or to improve your technique.

Ski & Snowboard School for Grandvalira
With a ski school that has an excellent reputation for teaching every level of Skiing and snow boarding from complete beginners to advance skiers. .
Ski School offers group lesson running from Monday to Friday, 15 hours of teaching - 5 days of 3 hours per day.
Also available are private lesson, excellent way to improve your tech.
There is also a kindergarten at Ski School for kids 1 - 4 years old, and children’s classes for the older ones.
